Carla has deep roots in the journalism industry. In newspapers, she has worked as a reporter, features writer, editor and page designer. Her magazine experience includes work as a freelancer, editor, columnist and designer. She has been in on the planning and production of websites for several newspapers and businesses, as well as for her family’s personal website and several blogs.
Her work has appeared in Texas Highways magazine, the Dallas Morning News, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Lubbock Magazine, Lubbock Parent magazine, the Breckenridge American, the Graham Leader and several other publications. Additionally, some of her articles and photos have been picked up by the Associated Press and published in newspapers, including The Houston Chronicle, The Fort Worth Star Telegram and others, and on the Internet. As a freelancer, Carla has also written PR and marketing materials, as well as newspaper and magazine articles.
In addition to writing and editing, Carla has experience as a student media adviser and as a short-course instructor, teaching a class she developed titled “How to Write Your Family History.”
